As Massachusetts prepares to roll out new clean energy-saving systems following the recent passage of a major comprehensive Climate Bill, another roll-out is happening at the federal level: The Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Grand Challenge launched by the Biden-Harris administration in September, 2021.  Its purpose is to spur research, production and distribution of SAFs “to put the aviation sector on a pathway to net-zero emissions by 2050.”

Whether the Grand Challenge will achieve necessary results by 2050 -- the year by which all sectors must attain net zero to prevent the worst outcomes of the climate crisis -- is up in the air. The January 8th webinar will explore the possibilities and limitations of SAFs, why the aviation industry and government agencies are supporting it, in addition to raising questions that should be considered.
