Federal Interagency Working Group

Federal Interagency Working Group

The Federal Interagency Working Group (FIWG) was established under President Clinton in 2001 and reconvened by President Obama in 2010. It is still current.

The FIWG MOU (Memorandum of Understanding), which is specific to Hanscom Field, directs the three Federal entities below to work together “to promote the long-term protection of resources of the Minute Man National Historical Park and other significant historic sites in the vicinity of Hanscom Field”:

  • US Dept. of Transportation

  • US Dept. of the Interior (Bureau of National Parks)

  • Advisory Council on Historic Preservation

In 2011 a Congressional delegation wrote a Letter to President Obama in support of implementing the Federal Interagency Working Group for the then-private jet expansion plans at Hanscom.
