Thank you for helping to make the Oct 2nd State House Rally a tremendous success!
If you attended–thank you! If you spread the word–thank you!

Look at what we achieved together–
- By the numbers: over 240 people attended the rally by the State House steps, and 140 proceeded inside thereafter to present our 10,000+ petition signatures to the Governor's staff urging Governor Healey to stop the frivolous and destructive private luxury jet hangar expansion at Hanscom, at Logan, or anywhere.
- Petition signatures are growing! Now over 11,000 signatures–and we'll continue gathering them for the next milestone. Please sign the petition here & circulate it.
- Coalition is growing! Now over 50 partner organizations statewide, from Boston to the Berkshires!
Important Report Released on Rally Day: Hanscom High Flyers: Private Jet Excess Doesn't Justify Airport Expansion, co-authored by Chuck Collins of the Project on Inequality, Institute for Policy Studies. This report discloses that at least half of the private luxury jets that use Hanscom go to resorts and vacation hot spots–countering Massport's claims that they are used primarily for business and corporate purposes.
Media Coverage: Click here to see the considerable news coverage of our rally, campaign, and the new Hanscom High Flyers report in the Boston Globe, Boston Herald, CommonWealth Magazine, WBUR, GBH News, and more.
The success of this rally puts us in a strong position for advancing our goals for the next phase of our campaign. See Next Steps below.

Please Donate to Keep us Strong!

As we celebrate this moment of communal success, we ask that you please donate so we can build on this success. The hard reality is that the funds raised thus far have covered our first 1000 lawn signs, which can now be seen in towns and cities all across the state–an important achievement. But they do not cover the next 1000 which are now needed, as we're running out.
Nor do they cover the banners or brochures used ongoingly at weekly standouts, tabling events, and events like the rally day. They do not cover the staff hours needed to help coordinate all the moving parts of this ever-growing grassroots movement–NOR do they begin to touch the topnotch independent third-party aviation analysis that’s in process, so that we won’t be left empty-handed in the future when faced with the developers’ specious claims.
All these things require funds. Big funds. We’re up against Massport which claims to contribute $8.2 billion to the economy each year. This is why it’s a David and Goliath fight, and why we need your financial support.
We’ve seen you support this cause with your emails and calls and actions over the past many months. Thank you! Won’t you now show your support with a donation, as much as you are able, to keep this movement going?

There are a number of initiatives planned for the next phase of our Campaign, but first we want to give you a heads-up about the upcoming Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) around the corner which the developers are expected to submit to MEPA anytime between now through the fall.
When that happens, we’ll alert you right away–just be prepared for the need for a quick turn-around when you see the words “DEIR submitted! Public Comment period begins!” It will be crucial that we swamp the MEPA office with public comments opposing the private jet hangar expansion at Hanscom–the Governor will be watching this process closely. Click here to learn more about the DEIR and the MEPA process, and stay tuned.

Please sign these two petitions to support our partner organizations' important efforts–
- Please sign this petition from our state partner organizations: Mothers Out Front Massachusetts and Mass Power Forward.
This petition was initiated by the Springfield Climate Justice Coalition (SCJC) and supported by the Mass Power Forward coalition. Mothers Out Front is a member of both coalitions and is following the lead of SCJC, which is on the frontline of a fight against a proposed pipeline expansion through environmental justice communities, near schools and homes. This petition asks Governor Healey to halt all new expansions of the gas system and fits in with Massachusetts Mothers Out Front's current Clean Heat Clean Air Campaign.
-
Please sign this petition from our Logan-area partner organizations: AIR, Inc., Mothers Out Front–East Boston, and Mothers Out Front-Winthrop.
Please add your name to this brief letter asking Logan-area local elected officials to oppose further Logan Airport expansion into land along the Chelsea Creek and the haul road which would facilitate it. And please share this opportunity with any family, friends, neighbors and contacts who might like to join in signing.
